Geisinger Cancer Institute – career opportunities

For over a century, Geisinger has created easy access to healthcare for our friends and neighbors in Pennsylvania. Living and working here, you’ll join one of our tight-knit communities and experience a quality of life you can’t get elsewhere

Our Geisinger Cancer Institute, home to the region’s largest teams of board certified cancer specialists, is committed to using world-class technology to take care of our communities. Geisinger is designated by the National Cancer Institute as a National Community Oncology Research Program (NCI-NCORP) and has a robust portfolio of investigator-initiated and industry sponsored clinical trials as well as treatment and prevention studies and cancer care delivery research studies. Geisinger’s cancer program is recognized by ASCO’s Quality Oncology Practice Initiative, the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Elsevier’s evidence-based oncology pathways are embedded in the clinical workflow in Hematology/Oncology and Radiation Oncology.

The Geisinger Cancer Institute also provides a supportive environment for our physicians and advanced practitioners to collaborate with medical students and residents.

Hematology/Oncology

Twelve sites with infusion capability located across the system - ideal for delivering cancer care close to home. Geisinger has a bone marrow transplant program that is FACT (Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy) accredited.

Radiation Oncology

Advanced technology is offered at all five sites in the Geisinger system, including IMRT, SBRT, and 4DRT. Our tertiary sites in Danville and Wilkes Barre additionally provide SRS, intracavitary HDR brachytherapy, TBI, intravascular brachytherapy, and permanent brachytherapy implants in both the brain and prostate. The Henry Cancer Center in Wilkes Barre features the CyberKnife S7, a fully robotic radiation device that delivers radiation with exquisite precision. It is the only such device in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Palliative Medicine

Palliative medicine services are embedded in our four hospitals across the system, providing inpatient and outpatient palliative medicine services, including telemedicine.

Griffith MD

Our communities are very tightly knit, and we are truly caring for people that we see and interact with in our daily lives. Geisinger offers a unique opportunity to live in a rural setting, but practice specialized medicine at a large teaching institution. I feel so fortunate to be able to be able to focus on my subspecialized interests, caring for patients with non-malignant hematologic disorders and teaching medical trainees, while raising my children in the vibrant, small Pennsylvania town where I grew up!
